Stingy gets a bad rap, unless, of course, you are referring to the new campus resource website StingyCampus.

On the site students can buy and sell textbooks, find housing near campus, browse for class notes, search for jobs and internships, and connect with other students at your school. Seems kinda like Craigslist - university style.

So I haven’t done a lot of actual purchasing of Christmas gifts yet this year, but I have done a ton of web research looking for cute, unique, and affordable items.

Today I stumbled upon my new favorite accessory designer, Kailo Chic who has maybe the most adorable line of frame clutch wallets I’ve ever seen.  Not only are they super cute on the outside, but I love the colorful inner liner and oh-so-functional credit card dividers.

They’re even reasonably priced at $32, so now I just need to figure who exactly on my list is going to get one.

The only thing in my closet that rivals my love of flip-flops are my oh-so-comfy gently worn-in black Converse slip-ons.  They are my go-to shoes when the air in Santa Monica gets a little too chilly for exposed appendages.  So I was super excited the other day when I received an email from Converse unveiling their new line of “Make Mine (Red)” - as in design your own kicks for a good cause.  Not only do you get the thrill of creating some very stylish soles, but part of the proceeds from your purchase go to help fight AIDS in Africa.   This is very exciting.  To look good and do good, visit MakeMineRed.com.   Have a great weekend!

I love it when I stumble across awesome products that make me feel totally justified in spending a little extra cash: the super cute Splendid Breast Cancer Awareness tank, my Product (Red) iPod, and weekly treks to the Farmer’s Market in support of local food suppliers.

My latest obsession is the new clothing site Zelaz.  It features affordable and comfortable fashion designs for tweens, teens, and juniors. A self-described store with a conscience, Zelaz gives back to the community by dedicating 5% of revenues to worthy causes that help girls with fewer resources. Every purchase supports charities that help girls succeed.  Plus, their clothes are pretty cute, too!

As if that wasn’t incentive enough to shop, shipping is a flat-rate of $5 whether you buy one item or 15.  Check out Zelaz.com to see their latest sales and offerings.

Living near the beach justifies my healthy collection of tank tops–I think they’re super cute for pairing with your go-to jeans or underneath a blazer with some fun accessories for a dressier look.  And now Splendid has given me yet another reason to purchase one more of my favorite staples. Their latest tank is an exclusive, cute (and charitable) design–$5 from each tank goes to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation!

How’s that for some feel-good shopping?!

To get your very own tank, visit Splendid. And for 3 ways to wear the look, check out Seventeen’s Style Blog!

My obsession with the PeaHoodie started earlier this summer when I was working on Project Runway.  For someone who already has a pretty healthy love of hoodies (I might possibly have one in every color of the rainbow), Abigail Adam’s hybrid design of peacoat and hoodie instantly captured my fancy. I blogged about it, talked about it, and apparently someone (thanks, Fendersons!) got the hint because now I have my very own cute and oh-so-cozy PeaHoodie! Now I’m just waiting for the Los Angeles fall weather to roll in..

To experience all the awesomeness that is the PeaHoodie, visit Abigail Adams’ website, and don’t forget to mention Guide & Seek!

So tell me, what’s your favorite fashion find for fall?

I am so excited to announce that my first book “Seventeen’s Guide to Getting Into College” is now in stores!!!  This college guide leads you through every step of the admission process: knowing your schools, making the grades, writing your story, putting yourself to the test, impressing the interviewer, finding the cash, getting ready to apply, and what to do once you’re in. It includes a master four-year-calendar to map out your game plan (because it’s never too early to start thinking about that AP class or extracurricular activity); a pocket organizer for keeping track of college brochures, financial aid info, and other important papers; oodles of advice; and fun stuff, like interactive exercises, a “brag sheet” to tote up your honors, and “17 Must-Ask Questions!”

So if you’re freaking out about college (or can’t wait to start), this just might put you over the top…and into your first choice!!!  Thanks for all the support, and don’t forget to tell your friends to check out this book!  I’d love to hear what you think!
